Stuff About Harriet

Well, although the Internet connection at our place is still dead, that doesn't actually prevent me from writing an entry in the blog about Harriet. But no pictures, unfortunately, it's logistically and legally difficult from work. Because this is being written by me, it's nowhere near as humourous as Cass would make it!

Harriet has passed the 7 month mark. Last week Harry and Cass visited the community health nurse, where Harriet weighed in at 9.8kgs and measured 74cm long/tall. This puts her well above the 97th percentile for both height and weight, which should be no real surprise to anyone.

She has also decided to try to crawl - she's one or two weeks away from making her first real movements. This morning she appeared to work out how to crawl backwards very slowly, so all she needs to do is reverse the movement and get a little more speed up. Hand-eye co-ordination has also improved - playing with toys is becoming a much more fun and long lasting experience for her.

She has another tooth, the one to the left of her two bottom teeth. The corresponding one is not showing much sign of appearing, so she might have a good quality lop-sided grin for some time to come. Her grandpa noticed the other day that Harry's right canine appears to be near the surface, which if it comes out soon will make her smile rather comical.

Also, due to the impending move Cass has finished working at Morley Vetcentre.

Last weekend we didn't have to do any work on the house, or even get it ready for an open house. This left us with not much to do, so we took Harry to her Nana and Grandpa's house, dropped her off and went to the movies. Nana was pretty happy with this as she hasn't spent much time with Harry lately (not since Cass has finished work) and we were happy to have time to ourselves. So what did we do by ourselves on a fine sunny day? Went to the movies. Twice. ("A History of Violence" and "Inside Man" - both good but not awesome). Wicked stuff. All you Sydney based aunties better get ready for your turn at doing this - in fact, anyone up for some babysitting on June 9th? We're off to see Split Enz at the Entertainment Centre in Sydney.

I've quit my job, the house has been sold and the settlement has little to no chance of falling through, so we'll definitely be in Sydney in early May (at the latest - still trying to get an earlier settlement on the house). See all you Sydneysiders soon!

According to Telstra, our Internet connection will be back up later this week or on the weekend so Cass will no doubt provide a long post with lost more information than that sometime soon.
