I Need to Go to Bed

But before I do, I thought I'd share a couple of things Harriet has said recently:

* Getting out of the car this afternoon after we'd been mucking about in the parked car, Harriet asked Jimbo "Who undid my buckle?". James replied that it was him, to which Harriet said "Thank you Papa".

* We were doing some run-arounds in the supermarket to keep interest high and I (in mock seriousness) would say to Harriet "Don't chase me!" thengo speeding away with an hysterically laughing Harry running behind me. When I stopped and said (in mock stern voice) "Why are you chasing me?" she grabbed my leg, looked up at me very seriously and said "I have to chase you, because you're my Mama!".
* Just after the buckling in comment today, Harriet walked down into the hallway, out into the study here at the rear of the house and out of the blue just proclaimed, "What a beautiful home, Mama!". *priceless*
* I'm seriously going to have to get a little notepad and write down all this stuff, because this is just from the last 48hrs. A lot of stuff she's been saying is so adult. The other day she threw her book down on the floor in disgust, proclaiming loudly, "I can't read it Mama!". She did it again the next day but with even more anger and frustration - as if the ability to learn how to read should have materialised over the intervening period.
Will write more soon. Promise.

Sorry!

Yes, I promised a long post. And no, I have failed to deliver. However look at how cute Harry is! Surely that will make you forgot.
Just look over there....while I *runawaytodomorephotos*.

Our House in January

So this is what you see a lot of in our house at the moment, what with this photography challenge and all. Harry has decided that she is also into photography and even held a little photo session out on the back table with New Doll and Little Doll as her models. When I have the time (HA!) I will upload the photos of it, they're very cute.
ps - You might want to double-click on this photo to see it larger.

The Singing Loon

I am in the middle of writing up a big post all about Harriet and what she's doing developmentally in her play right now. I did a few posts like this about six months ago. Anyhoo, thought that while I work on that post I'd still put something up here to put a smile on your face.

This is Harry demonstrating her shy, retiring nature at a keyboard on display in a Dick Smith store when we went to Ikea one morning before Christmas. Her friend Ruby has the exact same one and we could NOT drag her away! The salespeople kept coming up to us and saying "So, umm...are you actually going to buy this thing for your child? Because the noise is driving us insane". Hmmm...if it's driving you insane inside a large shopping centre, imagine how much fun it would be in our inner city house?

Miss You!

Today James and I went to the cricket with Mike and some friends. I was away from Harriet from about 9am until about 4.45pm. And I missed her! She had a lovely time hanging out with Nana, although by the end she was obviously tiring from her late NYE.
Will be back in with a nice long post about cute stuff she's doing, but thought I'd post a photo. I'm starting a photo a day challenge for a forum I'm on and although this one didn't make it by a couple of days, thought I'd still use it.
